North Dakota Oil
North Dakota oil is on the rise, and this state might hold the most potential for undiscovered fuel in the entire nation. While many have guessed at the sources within this land for years, it has just recently been proven.
The stretch of North Dakota oil that was recently found is called the Bakken Shale. This area has been under watchful eyes for quite a few years now, though geologists have just confirmed that there are hundreds of billions of barrels within this land. This particular piece of land covers Montana and parts of Canada. While many are hopeful, the one main concern is how to extract the fuel from the land itself. The problem is that the oil is not in the ground... it’s in the rocks.
Speculators believe that there are roughly 4 billion barrels to be found within those rocks that make up the Bakken Shale, only no one has figure out how to get it out. As compared to ANWR Alaska, those 4 billion barrels seem to be very little, though they are a definite good start. Many believe that this state has a lot more potential that will be found once exploration begins, but for now companies are just trying to find a way to actually use the “liquid rock.”
Many within the United States would love to see more domestic fuel exploration and development. Currently, the United States gets most of its oil from overseas, though this could change once all states are explored. Will this change the price of gas? Maybe – then again, the US has lost a lot of refineries lately, so this may just balance it all out. With the ANWR debate still going strong, some believe that North Dakota oil may be the wave of the future.

Soon enough, the United States will become one of the largest exporters of oil if lands within the nation continue to enjoy exploration – and this is exactly what most people want.
